Welcome to the website of Peace Lutheran Primary School!
Thank you for reading about Peace Lutheran Primary School, Gatton.
One of the biggest decisions a parent needs to make is choosing a school for their child. We certainly believe that Peace has much to offer families as they make this important decision.
Peace Lutheran Primary School has been a rich part of the Lockyer Valley tapestry for forty years. The school was formed by Peace Lutheran Church in 1982 so that it could offer a high quality Christian education to its members and to the wider community.
Peace is a double stream school, with modern facilities and agile learning spaces that enable students to be inquisitive and collaborative as they learn in a future-focused classroom setting. Students are supported by highly trained, caring and professional teachers and staff. Our teaching staff support each individual student so that they can experience success in their learning. Peace provides specialist teachers for all students in the Arts and Physical Education and our Year 4s, 5s and 6s also undertake German lessons. All teachers work in a collaborative environment where they consistently seek to find ways to support and enhance student learning. English and Mathematics are given dedicated time in the timetable and we offer intervention programs to assist students who require further support in literacy and numeracy. As a school of the Lutheran Church, Peace uses Lutheran Education Australia’s Christian Studies Curriculum Framework to guide Christian Studies lessons. Technology is integrated across the curriculum areas to enhance student learning and to further provide opportunities for students to develop their technological skills, competence and confidence.
All of this takes place in a caring, Christian environment where each student is valued as they learn not only about themselves and the world around them, but also about God’s love for them as seen through the gift of his Son, Jesus. Each week students participate in classroom devotions and gather each week for a whole school time of worship.
Students are encouraged to see service to others as an important life skill. Students are supported by staff so that they may grow in themselves to be caring, compassionate, considerate young people who strive to live in peace with one another. Peace sets high expectations for students and when things go wrong (as they inevitably do) we desire to resolve conflict using, when appropriate, a restorative approach that seeks to restore relationships and expects that poor choices will not be chosen again in the future.
